  •  An old schoolmate was an investment banker (13+ / 0-)

in New York, living on Long Island. According to a friend who visited, they had delivery service for whatever they wanted, good pot, coke, harder stuff, whatever. Give them a call and they show up at your place in 20-30 minutes, just like Domino's.

But, the drug laws are enforced, selectively, on those in the white collar professions. They are part of why what happens on Wall Street stays on Wall Street, other locations and their related industries apply as well. The powers that be have no real problem with white collar drug use as long as you continue to play the game on their terms. But if you choose to make waves, break ranks, talk to media or regulators about things they want hushed up, THEN your drug use becomes a weapon against you.

Drug use by the lower middle class and the poor is a profit center for the private prison industry, so of course they are the people against whom most enforcement efforts are directed.

      You are SO right on.

If you're not black/brown and/or poor (or exposing things they'd rather not have exposed) then they really couldn't care less.

The "Drug War" IS the New Jim Crow.

"A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defence agst. foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home." - James Madison
