  •  In my head I am thinking "Charley Grant" (0+ / 0-)

who complained often that his "Felicia Andrews" bodice-rippers got more fanmail than his "serious" horror novels (which were pretty banal--King he was not).

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.

was able to write soft porn, as I remember it, was to write all the chapters with sex all at once and then to go back and fill in the chapters in between.  She also said that she never read the stuff once she wrote it and left it to the editors to clean up inconsistencies.

I do have Harlan Ellison's first novel I believe, which was "Rockabilly"

I also remember some writer coops writing one chapter each with only a broad outline who then cleaned up the novel.  As I remember it at least one such novel was published under a pseudonym

Naked Came The Stranger, which was a deliberately bad book attributed to Penelope Ashe, a "demure Long Island housewife". And so it goes...

Let us all have the strength to see the humanity in our enemies, and the courage to let them see the humanity in ourselves.
