with any of the Indian Gaming Casinos in the area?

Here in Jackson which is about an hour away from Sacramento, the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort is advertising a number of positions.

I suspect you might very well qualify for one of them.

I spent over a year working there. Most of the entry level positions pay around $9.00 per hour plus benefits.

It's a 24x7x365 operation and they are always hiring. And, many of the employees live in the Sacramento/Stockton area.

You should also consider the Red Hawk Casino in Placerville although I don't see any job postings at this time.

None of these places offer a smoke free environment--quite the opposite particularly for the jobs in the casino itself. So if you're allergic to cigarette smoke then that would be a problem.

but I could prolly tolerate it ... for a while. Could probably tolerate almost anything just to get a steady income going again! I'll shovel out the barn if you'll pay me. ;)

environment than others. For example, the cafeteria workers are in a smoke free area. Similarly, the children's arcade is smoke free and the preschool operated for the employees is likewise smoke free.

I worked as a preschool teacher so I didn't have to deal with it, but the majority of the employees do have to put up with it. To tell the truth I got a headache every time I had to walk through the casino, but that wasn't very often.

The application process is quite fast and I think I started working there about two weeks after I applied. The only problem is that there's a very lengthy background check on all potential employees and your continued employment is conditional on passing the checks.

So the gaming regulation folks require you to give them your entire life history on one very long set of forms. It took me an entire weekend to complete the forms because I had to dig up all my former addresses and employers plus all my financial information.

BTW, don't worry about things like financial obligations and credit scores. I think they actually prefer hiring people who are in financial trouble--they like hiring people who are desperate for work frankly.

Anyway, good luck. I'll bet dollars to donuts that you get an offer if you go through the process with them.

Thank you! I had not thought of that.

And thank you as well for the tip on the stuff for itchy dogs. You have been *most * helpful to me, Mr Robert. Muchas gracias!

Lol, that's prolly what Fran's gonna end up looking like, if she doesn't stop scritchin' at her little self! Mussin' up her fur something awful.

Cheers to you, my friend. ;)
