that whoever in NASCAR penalized a team for allegedly having "jet fuel" in the engine is an absolute fucking moron.

Jet fuel confers no advantage. AT ALL.

They have no idea how a jet engine works. If they did, they would know that jet fuel is not unlike diesel or kerosene, in that it has no detonation resistance. Jet fuel is sprayed from a nozzle into the combustor at pressures far lower than you find in a piston engine. It is not designed to function under the kind of compression you find in a piston engine, and as a result will detonate before it's supposed to, long before the piston reaches top dead center.

This is catastrophic to piston engines not designed to handle it, like gasoline engines. Diesels basically run under detonation, but are built to take it.

Putting jet fuel into a high-compression racing gasoline engine will destroy it, and not after conferring any momentary power advantage. Quite the opposite. There will be holes burnt into the pistons, fractured skirts, broken connecting rods.

It frankly astonishes me that NASCAR officials could be so ignorant.

You may not be able to change the world, but at least you can embarrass the guilty.
