  •  Talk Radio Dominance (7+ / 0-)

Their belief that Internet dominance works the same way as talk radio dominance contains two faults.
    1) Talk radio controls its commenters. Listening to Rush's show, you'd think that the millions hearing it agreed with his ideas. What you don't hear is all the opposing viewpoints, because the station picks and chooses its callers. And they are very picky. While there are a lot of right wing sites that only allow certain people to comment, they have very low hits. We political types like to comment.
    2) Talk radio dominance comes down to Clear Channel and its right wing agenda. There is no massive internet provider restricting sites to right wing content only

Hate Speech must remain legal. It reminds us that the hate is still out there.

    •  Well, no (0+ / 0-)

Rush is syndicated and his screeners are central. It isn't up to individual stations who gets on and who does not.

Clear Channel's actual agenda is to make money and nothing else. The only reason there are so many syndicated RW shows is because they don't offend the core audience and they tend to be free.

    •  Also re: radio. the kind of lying that a Limbaugh (0+ / 0-)

..or a Beck engage in doesn't work nearly as well as the written word.
Lying of that magnitude is a performance, a charlatans show.
These carnival barkers require a certain skill (for lack of a better worse word) that can't be translated to the page.

A good writer - yes, but Limbaugh?  - lol

Look at most any right wingnut web site. When you read the crap that's put out without the conniving, insinuation vocal taunts and all the rest, it's comes off as as flat and as stupid as it really is.
