I tip'd & rec'd this, then posted a link to it on FB - but not without adding some of my own musing.

I'll add the musing below, and a link to it if folks are so inclined, but before I forget - pls. also check out Crashing Vor's piece, titled Passings, which can be found here.

    It's a very worthwhile reflection & reminder.

    OK - here's my musing:

Life is short. In geological terms, it's relatively short. If you're a tree, or a land tortoise, it's a little longer than the individual parsings of seasonal passings and yearly turnings that the rest of us hope to achieve. For those of us who see our own brief glimmer lasts a little longer than others who glimmered alongside our meager light, the flickering ambience of our collective glow reflects the dimming even as new sparks spring to life.

What makes us one - together in life, together in community, together in humanity and in our ability to live/love/grow among the various colors and hues cast by other life-lights - is our capacity to share in the glow cast by each, adding our own to it, feeling the loss as the flicker diminishes when one of our fellow lights is extinguished, and growing stronger & brighter as not only new embers catch fire but also as we burn a little brighter in memory of those who one helped to brighten our existence with their own.

We commemorate, memorialize, remember & recall those who have passed on with images of candles, torches & eternal flames. Their light lives on within us and those who they have touched. And with our capacity to share and empathize through words, we further honor those who are no longer here by sharing & communicating our memories of them - passing along a semblance of the spark they added to our own candles, and helping their light live on and grow within us all.

Such is life. And so, our sharing of light continues - here, for those who have known or who would seek to share in remembering the lights cast by our former fellow netizens, friends and family at Daily Kos:

My mumbling prose was posted here on Facebook.

Thanks for this, Deep Harm & all those who have shared and contributed.

It's so good to see you again.  You write so beautifully and that piece is a perfect companion for the intro to this diary.

...with our capacity to share and empathize through words, we further honor those who are no longer here by sharing & communicating our memories of them - passing along a semblance of the spark they added to our own candles, and helping their light live on and grow within us all.
Would love to have you in the In Memoriam group.
