    has consistently said he's got a bunch of siblings making the minimum wage, but he still opposes raising it. So even with poor relatives, they'd still push forward policies that'd hurt the poor.

        About the dumbest thing he can do for his own political standing is make news about gay marriage.  That just causes him a needless headache with his party's House caucus and his party's base, and gains him nothing.

        No that shouldn't be the overriding standard on this kind of issue...doing the right thing should be.  But really, in Boehner's shoes, always opposing gay marriage in particular and gay rights broadly, what incentive does he have?
