  •  How will he be as a fundraiser? (0+ / 0-)

    That also matters.

    •  Crist is a good fundraiser (9+ / 0-)

And I don't think he did too much to tick off Dems in his first term.  Due to lack of options I think Dems will rally around him if he plays his cards right and attract a lot of independents.

Two of Crist's four appointments to the state Supreme Court as Governor ended up being on the left end of the court, allowing the court to remain left-leaning with 5 moderate/liberals and 2 conservatives.  Rick Scott attempted to "re-organize" the Florida Supreme Court to eliminate the last bation of liberal power on Florida and failed.  This is the kind of thing Crist needs to highlight if he runs as a Democrat against Scott.

some of Lawton Chiles' appointees reach mandatory retirement age after 2014.  Scott is a crook and his appointees will reflect that.

Florida needs a governor like that again!

(He's also Kay Hagan's uncle, FWIW.)

          •  And Lawton Chiles defeated Jeb Bush (3+ / 0-)

Even in a brutal 1994 election cycle Chiles defeated Jeb in the FL Governor's race.  I'll always be grateful for that.  Though I've always wondered how things would have played out had Jeb won the Governorship in 1994 rather than not getting in until 1998.  It's possible Jeb would have been the GOP Presidential candidate in 2000 rather than Dubya.

        •  Exactly (0+ / 0-)

That's why Rick Scott pushed to "re-organize" the Supreme Court.  He wanted to lock in a solid conservative majority on the court and break the left's last bastion of strength in Florida.  Thankfully his scheme failed miserably.  Now the GOP has to hope Scott gets re-elected in order to takeover the FL Supreme Court.

I don't trust Crist at all.  The guy has no core values other than getting elected to public office by any means.  But that being said he's our best bet to beat Scott as most Floridians now realize Crist was a great Governor compared to Scott.

    •  His wife is a New York socialite (0+ / 0-)

      He'll do ok.
