    that the only purpose to robotic exploration is ultimately to expand the scope of human civilization.  If we could all choose to live in a cave in Africa and only know the rest of the world through robots, I doubt many would select that option.

    Without a strong safety net and living wage, all labor is forced labor.

      hiding in a cave vs sending people on a meaningless mission "just because." It depends on what you want to get out of the mission.

      All in all, while we're waiting/working on the technology to get humans to mars safely, I'm pretty impressed with what we can do with a robot :-)
