  •  Not all billionaires are like the Koch Brothers. (15+ / 0-)

Now, I think all or nearly all would oppose a socialist transformation of the United States, but when it comes to reforms in capitalism that actually are on the agenda of the possible, like environmental change or basic decency regarding a minimum wage or with respect to unions, not all will oppose such reforms.

The South and its allies, with its Jacksonian Democracy, neo-confederate ideology based on white racial advantage, fundie Christianity, and a weak central government, is not necessarily the ideology of all billionaires.

It might be interesting to see how it all plays out.  It would seem that once some people had billions of dollars, see, e.g., Gates and Buffett, that they might see things in a way that invovled helping humanity.

When added to small donations multiplied by the millions of people, the Dems may survive this.

Since the outlook for a global transformation of capitalism is about as good as it was 50 years ago, meaning not at all, the caveat may not matter for the near future.
