  •  I see that Texas is determined (12+ / 0-)

to keep poor people from seeing a doctor.

I read the link to Sarah Kliff and a link inside that to a San Antonio paper, and they are talking about co-pays and deductibles for Medicaid recipients as a viable option. They want to use Medicaid money to buy insurance policies which poor people will be required to pay to use. That means they won't get used by the people who need health care, but the insurance policy money will still get paid for by the government.

How are people below the poverty line supposed to come up with money for co-pays and deductibles?

They are trying to figure out every way possible to give money from the federal government to their cronies, but don't give a damn whether the citizens of the state actually get any health CARE along with their insurance policies.

As usual, it sounds like a boondoggle to funnel money to already wealthy people at the expense of the taxpayers of the country.

And the poor will still be unable to afford to see a doctor, and will be back in the emergency rooms.

    •  Probably junk insurance (0+ / 0-)

With high out of pocket costs and little coverage.

Allowing redneck states this option is going to gut Medicaid completely.   It's also going to further complicate our health care system - what a clusterf$ck of varying plans, exchanges, regulations, etc.  Very, very complex and ultimately, very, very expensive.

The GOP knows how to kill good health care programs - just make them complicated and expensive.

      Thanks, Obama.
