Capturing governorships doesn't matter if the state legislatures have supermajorities of Rethugs. It's already happening;  Dem govs veto ridiculous laws and the veto gets overridden.

2010 was not a fluke, the Rethug plan for that  goes back to the 80's. They captured local races and provided themselves with a future platform and a bench of candidates for higher offices.  And does anyone think it was a fluke that it happened in a year that determined redistricing? Dems have to overcome 30 years of Republican local activism in order to have a chance of restoring democracy to state races.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia".

    •  Yup. In reality, (0+ / 0-)

2012 state Republicans DID "romp" to victory in Missouri despite re-election of Democratic governor, er, what's his name? Oh, yeah, Nixon - sorry but you never hear about him doing anything. The legislature is locked with deep red Republican supermajorities and nothing that Nixon says or does is going ANYWHERE without the blessing of the wingnuts.
