something I wondered about ever since I was involved with children who'd been abused by relatives and parents. They certainly knew what had been done to them. Having it addressed in secret proceedings seemed to provide no benefit to the victims. Both the perps and incompetent prosecutors and social workers seemed to get more since their behavior was not exposed to public scrutiny.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.

Yes, it shouldn't exist for the victim t be stigmatised, yet it remains a fact. In some cultures they kill. or shun the victim of rape.

So we make against the law to publish the names of underage victims/

fact does not require fiction for balance (proudly a DFH)

      •  It's a humiliating crime of which to be a victim. (2+ / 0-)

The victim's privacy, dress, behavior, and her character are assassinated in public once she reports this crime.  That is why so few rape victims report the crime.

People call the rape victim a liar in public places to damage her credibility.  She is harassed.  She is menaced.  She is threatened.
