    The only way to win here is to stop burning oil.  Stopping the pipeline is not going to do that.  The tar sands will get used, there is just too much money on the table for them not to.  So taxing them and using the tax to create green alternatives is a close as you can get to a real victory here.

    The political capital and energy that it will take to stop XL is significant.  I really wonder if it is not better spent on something that is more likely to actually reduce the carbon going into the air.  What is being suggested here seems to meet that goal.
