Thanks. I almost lost the thread, there.

What I wanted to get at was that there is a basic approach to the new that we're familiar with. The new is great! The new is stupid! The new is a must-have! This dynamic shows the place for the skeptic: skeptics reject claims that require innate belief or transmitted values or closed-door aesthetics. They might gush about the sublime, because that's something that is experience, but they're not likely to be art world snobs.

The same spectrum exists in educational theory. It's great! It's horrible! And from there they go on to wash out their colors and say, in the end, "It works sometimes, but mainly when the teachers are good." Skeptics are unwelcome.

The world of the skeptical conservative can be calcified, but it can also be the necessary obstacle. When the U.S. moved from conservative and liberal to radical vs. liberal, we lost the ground for questions.

Everyone is innocent of some crime.
