    That was an odd one. I'm glad I read it, but it will be a while before I pick it up for a re-read. It was kinda like reading page after page of Timecube babble with the occasional moment of "Holy shit! It's true!" revelation, which is very disconcerting when you thought you were reading material so crazy it left you wondering how intentional the appearance of craziness was.

    Now I'm wrapping up "Trafalgar," by Angelica Gorodischer. It's another slim book that plays with an unreliable narrator to muddy the reader's interpretation of setting. Trafalgar is a rich bachelor who fascinates the viewpoint narrator with his outrageous stories of encounters on other worlds. It is the softest of science fiction-- no attention whatsoever to hypothetical physics of space travel; lots of narrative play with "what ifs" about societies in which time or perception work in non-obvious ways.
