sort of commitments to leave SS benefits intact or will the CPI be introduced as a critically needed way of 'protecting' Social Security? Or the best they can do given Republican control of House budgeting process?

We need to be in the streets declaring Social Security's separation by design from general Federal budget and insist the funding (our payroll taxes) and benefit changes only be those warranted by actuarially proven requirements, and continue to only involve payroll tax contributions. Getting Social Security out of the 'discussion' on the general Federal budget is a fundamental requirement to protecting it. This is what I need to hear from The White House. None of the carefully worded statements promise me anything as credible as promising to separate all Social Security concerns from the General Budget.
