I hope you're right that she represents the future of the party (I think she does -- think how many people identify themselves as being from the Warren wing of the party a la the Wellstone wing of the party etc). I hear this a lot in Massachusetts and it is telling. I doubt you only hear it here. And it's not just because she won -- altho that helps. Her election fundamentally changed the Mass Dems party in a lot of ways -- showed how to campaign with an aggressive grassroots strategy, and opened the door for women to run and win in a VERY parochial state. And her campaign showed just how critical it is for Mass Dems to be super organized and active in urban centers and communities of color. All of those lessons have been deeply internalized in the party; they are now truisms. Several years ago they weren't (ex: Coakley's campaign). Markey's campaign is adopting the lessons learned, you can see it. So she shifted the ground here pretty dramatically -- which has been great to see!!

I think she absolutely intends to endorse and fundraise for candidates, which is why she started her own PAC. She's been fundraising for Senators Merkley and Franken extensively both of whom are up for reelection in 2014, I'm sure there will be others. Of the others up in 2014, I wouldn't be at all surprised if she does a ton of work for Shaheen (NH), both Udalls (CO & NM) and Jack Reed of RI. Not to mention whoever the Dem candidates are in Michigan and Iowa.

In terms of primaries, we shall see. Perhaps she will wade into primaries -- outside Massachusetts. Inside Mass, she has to stay neutral to maintain good feeling in the party -- she is staying neutral in the Markey/Lynch race for US Senate here. Although she has to know that her army of supporters is all in for Markey and working hard for him. No doubt she'll endorse Markey about 2 seconds after he wins the primary :-)

And I certainly don't expect her to encourage primary challenges for her colleagues(unless it were a rare case of a "Dem gone Wild' who was Liebermanesque in his corporatism).

But I hope she weighs in whenever there's an opening(a retirement, someone gets plucked to work in administration, death, etc).

And I want her to be bold and fearless---and willing to buck the establishment, including the WH.

Ron/Rand Paul are remaking the GOP in their image, with all the good and bad that entails. I want her to do the same thing.

Take care---I'm gonna nominate you for Top Comment(as soon as I figure out how!).
