There are basically two things you can do with TU, hide trollish comments from and browse thru the flame wars and troll hunts without missing anything. As a TU you can see comments that have been hidden though you'll need to go to your preferences to make them visible.

If you've really made a stupid comment and want it hidden you can ask for a couple of TU's to hide it for you. It happens from time to time. But usually it's easier to just reply to your comment and say something like, "Wow, that was incredibly dumb. Please disregard that comment. Sorry"

You can't assassinate the character of any of modern conservative. You'd have to find where it was buried, dig it up, resurrect it, then kill it. And killing a zombie isn't really assassination, is it?

But you are always free to add a reply to your comment mentioning that you think your original comment was particularly brilliant, funny or insightful.

Folks dig that. They won't mock you at all.

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.

      •  How many times have I been tempted to do (4+ / 0-)

        just that?... MANY.

I KNOW my comments MUST be funny, because I laugh at them, and that's good enough for me!

Then again, I don't get out much.

Somebody has to do something, and it's just incredibly pathetic that it has to be us.

on Facebook.... and I really like doing that sometimes. :)

        •  I had a "friend" who always liked his own comments (1+ / 0-)

and photos on FB. Every single one.

He was a guy from high school that I probably shouldn't have bothered accepting his friend request in the first place, but I did one day that I wasn't paying attention or something.

I found that liking everything he posted (and most of it was pretty brainless, like what he ate for breakfast)  so annoying, I ended up de-friending him.

I have no explanation except that I can be like that. We lower UID people are often cranky. Just so you know.

          :)

          •  Well, I never "like" my own comments on FB (0+ / 0-)

not as such, but I do sometimes "like" things (photos with other peoples' proverbs (like Lao Tzu) or videos of something) I like that repost. But "liking" my own comment of my own words seems rather self obsessed. I could never bring myself to do such an egotistical thing. I would have dropped someone like that on a whim too.
