  •  Oh please. The Carnegie libraries - a huge (0+ / 0-)

gift to the country - were paid for with dynamite. That's how Andrew Carnegie made his money. To improve his legacy, he built libraries.

        •  I wasn't alive when the railroads got built (0+ / 0-)

but I was around for Microsoft lying to the public about how the internet works, lying to the public about how servers work, and so on.  Most people who make excuses for them don't understand just how corrupt they were (like adding extra code to Windows NT to cripple its network connectivity, just to be able to charge extra for the privilege of having that crippling code disabled.)  And even if you're correct about the railroads being even worse, that's hardly a meaningful reason to brush aside a comment about Microsoft being bad.

          •  Well, I think people actually dying and the other (0+ / 0-)

crap associated with railroads is worse. YMMV, obviously.

            •  But try to keep up. (0+ / 0-)

Pay attention to my last sentence again:
"And even if you're correct about the railroads being even worse, that's hardly a meaningful reason to brush aside a comment about Microsoft being bad."

It's a bit like saying, "how dare you try to hold Bob accountable for theft when John committed murder."

              •  I'm not convinced Microsoft was all that bad. (0+ / 0-)
