  •  Steven, had to scroll quickly (9+ / 0-)

to the bottom of comments, after reading your diary, because I so felt the need to respond to you. Will go back and read the comments.

What a BRILLIANT diary you have written here. I basically knew all the points on your time line, but reading them here all brought together, with fine writing to boot, really hits it out of the ballpark.

So. Kaili Joy has left. There's a hole in the front pager line up. Frankly, I'd love to see you fill it. I'd like to see an openly gay FPer. Not because I would wish to corral you or any other gay person to just gay issues, or to being the "gay" spokesperson, but because I believe a gay perspective would be welcome, on a score of issues. I believe that the Daily Kos should represent the diversity of the Democratic platform on its front page.

I doubt Kos is home this Friday night reading diaries and comments, so I know my wish here won't be noticed where it needs to be noticed.  But at least I can throw you a bouquet.

You'd be a GREAT front pager, on the merits of your writing alone. But again, yes, I feel the media needs more openly gay spokespeople---to let America know everyone has a voice, to let America know gay people can pull up a chair to any conversation, to let America know that gay people in America have a voice that goes beyond being gay. A voice worth hearing on the merits of talent alone, but with the additional benefit of hearing from another minority.

    •  I really appreciate that StellaRay (10+ / 0-)

I am so flattered. The only reason this diary exists is because I had the afternoon off work and I felt strongly about his one. If we had 25 or 26 hours in the day, I would maybe be able to work around full-time employment and the stack of dirty dishes in my sink while cleaning my oven and writing for Daily Kos. It would stretch me darned thin.

      •  Yeah, I get that. (8+ / 0-)

        Still, you're one talented guy.

You say you squeezed this one in because you had a little extra time. But I've read other great diaries and comments from you, which leads me to believe you find a way to make the time--free of charge!

In any case, PLEASE keep on sharing your voice. As the mother of a gay son, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your voice, and how much it supports me in my fight for my son, and for my many gay friends, and for an America that will continue to be tarnished by our refusal to be who we say we are.

America will be a much better place when every gay person has an equal place at the table, and a loud and proud voice.
