  •  Other than the "balanced budget" being a gimmick, (0+ / 0-)

the point needs to be made that the federal agencies are the source of currency, a figment of the imagination which, unlike a mountain spring does not depend on rain falling from the sky. So, for the Congress to claim there are not enough dollars is a lie. Congress is rationing dollars, of which it has (in theory) an unlimited supply, for just one reason -- to penalize and/or bribe the public for the purpose of insuring their own incumbency.

Granted, some few members of Congress may not know they are the source of dollars. If so, that must be explained to them. If they don't understand where dollars come from, they should not be in Congress.

While it is true that some economists don't understand where dollars come from, either, it should be pointed out that they are not in Congress, which has gone to great lengths to deceive them and everyone else via the pretense of the Federal Reserve Bank.  The deception has worked so well that the European Union was moved to set up the European Central Bank and now all the member countries are in a mess--the same mess our fifty states have been in since the end of the Civil War because Congress keeps rationing the currency.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
