  •  Testosterone OD on Wall St. (17+ / 0-)

I never thought I'd say something like this, but it's us guys. (Don't you love it when guys call guys "guys"?) I had this thought while watching Sheila Bair on Moyers last night, having just finished Yves Smith's book. A lot of the rule-bending and cheating in the Finance "industry" is as much due to competitiveness as it is to greed. It's a game, a sport to them. "I won, I beat the other guy, I'm the star of my firm team!" Read an account of the atmosphere among the traders in any of these firms, all observers agree that it's very much a male-dominated, ultra-competitive, mine's-bigger-than-yours culture. The solution? Step aside and let some smart chicks straighten things out. Carl Levin did a good job on the JPMorgan thing (The "London Whale", incidentally, was a guy, not an overweight chick.), but who is the one U.S. Senator we're all hoping will take on Wall St.? (Hint: It ain't Chuck Schumer.) So there's my suggestion: put the chicks in charge of regulation and guys, if you want to play poker, do it with your own damn money, not the US Treasury.
    Have a nice day.

The free market is not the solution, the free market is the problem.

We have a winner.  Ergo, the saying:

He (sic), who dies with the most toys, wins!
Indeed it is competition!  Macho Mio!
