    this lawyer told me it was entertaining but was disappointed it didn't amount to much.
    Not to anyone listening to the "pedantic but gracious" lecture, but certainly to Scalia, who no doubt left with a hefty speaking fee.

      quaoar, Thanks for the reply. I asked about that and was told by a UNH law school official there was no fee and that Scalia did it as a favor to a friend associated with the school.

      Retired justices can charge whatever they want, but sitting justices usually just get travel expenses. They can also have an honorarium of up to $2,000 donated to a charity. Justices do get paid for teaching, mostly during the summer, but outside earned income is limited by statute -- most who teach only get about $15-20K annually.
