The path out of the war would have been set
because the Paris Peace Talks wold have yielded a signed peace treaty.

Unless you're arguing Humphrey was so hawkish as to abrogate a signed peace treaty?

Wow, that is certainly an...entertaining.....means of argument: claim that your desired outcome has already occurred and then base your argument on the "fact" that your desired outcome has occurred.

In the Fox News Christian Nation, public schools won't teach sex education and evolution; instead they'll have an NRA sponsored Shots for Tots: Gunz in Schoolz program.

      •  Dude, there are two things very (0+ / 0-)

clear in this section of the thread.

        1) The "what would have happened" is entirely speculative. Having Humphrey swept into office on a wave of anti-war sentiment would have pushed him towards honoring and continuing with the Paris Peace Talk treaty. Vietnam may have "ended" the way the Iraq war did, with a drawdown and an eventual departure, but it's more than likely it would have ended, or begun winding down, within a year. But who knows, in the alternative timeline, Humphrey could have decided to take off and nuke the whole place from orbit -- only way to be sure.

        2) You're quite belligerent and confrontational. Bill Minutaglio used the word "chinny" to describe GWB strutting around the White House after getting the war he wanted. It's the perfect word for both him and, in this thread at any rate, you.
