    to get arrested for trespassing on public federal lands.  That is, unless it was a federal charge, and  they required a high bail because I was from out-of-state.

    I've made it a point since then to personally inspect, if possible, "approved" projects on federal lands, just see how messed up the difference is, between what's approved, and what's happening, aka "ground truthing."

    Last year I snuck out onto a geothermal project in Salt Wells in Northern Nevada.  They'd plainly been dumping lots of geothermal fliuds onto the ground, there were huge gullies torn through the desert, the sides of their waste water ponds had collapsed, and they'd tore up several areas digging up gravel for well pads.

    The difference is that in some BLM Districts, the way to advance is to lease out the public lands for exploitation, while the San Juans didn't have that pressure, thank goodness.
