  •  Well I dunno FDR preserved capitalism (15+ / 0-)

albeit in a properly regulated fashion. He acted in the monied elites interest, by stabilizing the economy for 50 years, only 3 recessions worse than negative 2%, gave corporations the best educated workers in the history of the written word.

Not that the Monied interests would agree with me, but 50 years after the families that owned Dupont, GM, IMB tried to replace FDR in a coup, those family members never saw a day of jail time or paid a fine.

FDR could have prosecuted the Bunch, Prescott Bush was caught red handed trading with Hitler in the summer of 42, Duponts were connected to the Coup plot.

Yup FDR did them all a favor, he never nationalized banks, or Car Makers.

FDR never stripped them of Assets, not a dime.

    •  It wasn't just an election (5+ / 0-)
An Election happened. And this change in leadership, led eventually to FDR's New Deal happening.
Don't get me wrong, I love FDR. I think he was by far the best president this country has seen. Period.

But the political elite never gave us anything.
People were out in the streets. They were protesting. They were striking. They were battling cops in the streets. They were refusing to pay rent. They were really considering socialism.
Plus the power of the banks had been broken by their own greed and incompetence (something that would have happened this time too if the government hadn't bailed them out).

But the thing is, the people got what they took, not what the government gave them.
