  •  I have thought about this for awhile. (6+ / 0-)

It is my belief that systems have a life span, same as a human, but longer. At some point there is an end and something new is born. The new maybe better, or not.

The course we as a Nation, and people of the earth can not keep on the same path. Greed is a parasite on human kind, and like most parasites it will kill it's host in the end.

    •  Ours Was Over a Century Out of Date When Adopted. (8+ / 0-)

The Dutch Tulip bubble was history, as were many risks of financial, trading and manufacturing economies. A number of the framers spoke of one or another --Jefferson wanted a Freedom From Monopoly in the Bill of Rights-- but when they sat down to argue-out their system, all they could come up with was one premised essentially on an economy no more advanced than one of primitive agricultural natives.

That's why we had depressions and panics frequently for our entire history outside the New Deal anomaly.

Greed is a feature of human nature, it was after the Revolution, it was in the 1960's when the people were at their economic high water mark, and it is today.

Greed is one of those basic facts of human nature that a governing system must respond to. For half a century ours did.

We are called to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for victims of our nation and for those it calls enemy.... --ML King "Beyond Vietnam"
