  •  The books are better than the TV (8+ / 0-)

My favorite book is the one where they discover a contraband video game in a locker. It is a total immersion game, called Better Than Life. The game gives you the life that you want most so that you soon forget that you are in an artificial reality and you never want to leave.

Lister ends up in an It's a Wonderful Life town. Rimmer gets filthy rich, hires his father as his chauffeur, then loses all of his money, including his body which he only rented for tax purposes.

They think that Kryten the robot will be immune so they send him into the game. He finds a diner that is closed for the day. It needs a lot of cleaning. There is a big stack of dirty dishes that he just wants to reduce in size. It is an infinite stack of course.
