and believe me, while I'd love to have a Bernie Sanders as my senator, I'm realistic and know that will not happen in Missouri.

Claire McCaskill has been a fine senator. She's been with the Dems on every major vote and I was proud to vote for her in 2006 and 2012.

Speaking of that, Todd Akin had been my representative, first on a state and federal level since 1989. I was born in 1986 so that's essentially my entire life. I've always known his crazy goes far beyond "legitimate rape" - that really just scratched the surface of his insanity but is what got the most national exposure. To say that the Democratic Party would be better off without Senator McCaskill, which may have allowed Akin to get elected senator is ridiculous. It's just asinine.

    •  agreed! and I'm not even there in MO (0+ / 0-)

it's good for Dems to have a big tent anyway. Since moderates who identify with Republicans are a dying breed who in most places would have trouble winning a primary, it's good that moderates can still fit in the Dem party.

acknowledging the lament of how "centrist" CM is not knowing if they were her constuents who were complaining, but in reality I myself think she's fine. She was surely very shrewed in "selecting" Akin to run against, and I"ve seen her speak. She is no Republican and seems to be a sharp person.)
