  •  You got the racism and misogyny, (0+ / 0-)

but you left out the bigotry, warmongering, and Mammonism, and also the Cognitive Dissonance that results in the vicious, shrieking denial that they are losing. Republicans, while admitting their problem in part, still think that the country is far less Progressive than it is. (Democratic politicians also, but to a lesser degree.)

The God, Guns, and Gays agenda is failing as opinion shifts at about 1% of the US population on most issues, and as a clear majority is against them on all of them. LGBT rights are moving faster than that, as not only they but their political supporters come out of the closet and thereby give others permission to do so as well. We are at 58% approval on Gay Marriage, and Nate Silver built a model that indicates Mississippi as the last state to tip, around 2024.

Reince Priebus is right that the young increasingly think the Republicans are stupid, hateful, and scary, but wrong in supposing that he can do anything about that as long as the Religious Right and the Tea Parties really are stupid, hateful, and scary, and the Republicans have no other base.

While we wait as the ongoing Republican implosion unfolds fully, we have to convince Democratic politicians that the country is more Progressive than they think, and demonstrate how they can win more and more elections on Progressive issues. We also need to tackle the filibuster in the Senate and the gerrymander of House and state legislature seats (as many of us are doing), and be prepared to replace Scalia on the Supreme Court when his time comes.

    Ceterem censeo, gerrymandra delenda est
