  •  I thought that horse was out of the barn and over (0+ / 0-)

the fence and gone, that the rebels had sourced those from Libya after all.

Do you have the NYT article link? paywall?

and I don't get what you mean here:

That really is the crucial thing that needs to change.
..do you think they should have them?

and which elements are the good ones that should/could have them and keep them in what increasingly looks like a several party civil war. There are groups that the us intelligence doesn't want to have

And who blew up the rebel commander mentioned in the earlier diary?

and even more 'moving rapidly' who really caused the chlorine gas missile made to look like certain jihadi designs, that killed the Syrian troops?

and the four comments after that article certainly bracket the arguments don't they?

on the NYT article, I just found it via their front page, yesterday; but today it might be behind the wall.

On the shoulder-launched missiles: I also heard that they had a few from Libya, but a few, not hundreds or thousands of units. If that horse were really out of the barn, you would hear about jets and copters downed every single day--in fact the Syrian Air Force would probably no longer be a factor at all at this point, unless the Iranians were actually shipping them whole planes :-)

And, no, we don't necessarily want thousands of portable AA missiles floating freely around the mideast; so I'm not sure I blame the Obama Admin for withholding those en masse.  We'll see what happens going forward.   It may be that some combo of U.S., Turkey, Israel and Gulf nations decide that they'd rather take out the Syrian AF themselves than leave that task to the rebels.

      •  thanks, I thought it obviously prudent (0+ / 0-)

for the cia to be in this thing in several ways, just at least for good info. safe to assume it's not the only intell agency there.
