    they can convince the public that this is good for us. Probably by scaring the living hell out of us first.   Disaster capitalism.

    But they've invested a lot already to soften us up with propaganda, much of it coming from Pete Peterson and whoever else is throwing funds his way.  And it really hasn't budget public opinion much.

    I expect that they will fearmonger in a major way first and then send Obama out on big tours giving many speeches about how he is going to fix it if we will just take a little cut here and there.

      They don't have a mandate on this.  The public does not trust Congress.  I can't see that 10 year thing going over with anyone old enough to even think about Social Security.  Seems to me just about everyone thinks Congress is doing nothing but making bad situations worse so why they'd want Congress meddling with Social Security every ten years is beyond me.  

      I think they have become so disconnected from real people that we might as well be space aliens.
