    The pictures really just show typical chaparral, but that is kind of a spooky biotope, what with all the dead plant material and prickly, glossy, hard bushes filling the landscape. Add in an oppressive haze, and it really can feel quite spooky.

      these shots kinda spooky; given the fact that the greater Los Angeles area's just a shorts ways away.

      From end to end, Cali's always been a land of stark contrasts.

      I've lived in five states and traveled extensively all over the country, and SoCal is the only place I know of where you can start out in one big city, go to the mountains, the desert, the ocean -- end up in another big city -- and do it all in less than 24 hours... with no backtracking or roundabout way involved.
