  •  Of course they won't justify it... (5+ / 0-)

They have their friends at the NRA to do it for them.

I don't blame Christians. I blame Stupid. Which sadly is a much more popular religion these days.

The ATF figures that 1% of gun dealers are responsible for placing 57% of the illegally-possessed guns in America.  That should be an easy fix, particularly when even the most die hard gun fanatic pretends to care about "keeping guns out of the hands of criminals".  What about the gun stores in border towns in AZ and TX which do a brisk business selling to teenagers who then turn around and hand them over to Mexican drug cartels.  If an 18 year old walks into your gun shop with a stack of bills and orders up a pile of AK-47s, doesn't the gun store owner have SOME inkling that those guns are going to Mexico, especially when the same kids appear in hs shop, week after week after week?  The NRA doesn't care--they love it.  It's more money for their corporate masters and that means more money for them.

What about Chuck's Gun Shop in Riverdale, IL, where gangbangers go to acquire their guns.  You cannot tell me that 20% of the guns used in gangland murders in Chicago come from this one store without Chuck knowing he is selling to phoney buyers (or directly to gang members--who knows).  If the NRA actually wants to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, they need to put people like Chuck out of business, instead of giving them big sales bonuses.  If the NRA can put senators out of business, they can certainly put a little ol' gun seller in Riverdale, IL out of business, too.
