  •  Me too, because this is how we get the House back (7+ / 0-)

and keep the Senate in 2014.

The Rs are ripe for a party split. Their purists cannot, cannot cannot allow their pragmatists to win. Their God would destroy America were that to happen.

I fervently hope there will be a real Tea Party, and it will split off from the Republican Party, thus giving the Democrats a majority in the House and making Nancy Pelosy Speaker again.

All their gerrymandering and clever attempts to squash the minority vote will come to nothing.

    Oh please, oh please.

(And actually, even if they don't split, this is how we take the House in 2014. The Rs are afraid of primaries? Fine, let's give them some. Claire McCaskill showed us the way by funding Todd Aikin's primary campaign, thus winning another term in a red state.)

That wing of the party was shot dead by Cheney on a hunting trip.  The republican pragmatists are the leaders of the Democratic party, from top down.

      •  You raise a great point, orestes1963, ... (0+ / 0-)

... as there are purists on the left side who can seem almost as bad as a Huckabee or a Santorum, but thankfully, none of their leaders have any real power, and their number can't be much more than 50,000 in the entire United States.

On the other hand, church pews are full of wannabee-Huckabees every Sunday morning, but they're dying out and more and more of their children are realizing that they don't need church or god as a mystic crutch anymore.

I would tip you, but the man took away my tips.

        •  False equivalency since I cannot think of the (3+ / 0-)

"purists on the left side who can seem almost as bad as a Huckabee or Santorum".  The purists on the left seem to be committed to things as radical as social justice, universal health care, and the end to foreign wars of choice.  This false equivalency of each side having dangerous radicals just seems fallacious.
