  •  Such a joyous day (11+ / 0-)

I thought it would be different. But today has been funny. Jokes. A ton of red HRC profile pics on Facebook. People I never imagined got it, get it. And the jokes.

We are joking, and laughing, because we are winning.

I think the court will take the most narrow way out they can, but
    we.
    are.
    winning.

    •  Yes they will take a narrow view, which is not (8+ / 0-)

the worst thing they could do but they'll do that because several of them seem to feel compelled to

wait until the most bigoted person in the room is willing to let you have rights
      'cause it's just too controversial.

and no one seems to understand.  If they invalidate a State referendum that was voted upon and passed by the majority, what does this mean to our Republic?

All politics is local, correct?  And when we started invalidating the Patriot Acts provisions, city by city, county by county, were those votes null and void?  Over 360 municipalities voted to make the Patriot Act unenforceable.

While I detest and abhor the actions of the majority of the States in these "United States" that have intentionally denied me equity under law, if the Supreme Court decides to leave standing the previous decisions, does this mean we no longer have a Republic?

        And I'm serious about this.

Isn't our Republican system based on the will of the people????  And sadly, they've spoken, haven't they?

While many here wish to applaud the effective grassroots movement of my LGBT community, won't this effectively invalidate said efforts of other "movements" as well?

Government by decree...I simply do not agree with this mentality.
