    permits same sex adoption and, in fact, all of the benefits of marriage, which is why no actual state interest is advanced by stigmatizing same sex unions by denying them recognition as marriages.  As a question of the respondents (good guys), I get it, because it's not unreasonable to ask them how far the ruling should go and the effects on states that have such policies; but as a question of the petitioner, not only is it irrelevant but there was a full trial with credibility determinations that found there was no benefit to the state or to children from denying same sex adoptions, which is part of the record on appeal.

    Difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.
