    In soccer, two yellow cards or one red card means disqualification. Fine. Every player starts the game equally, and all are aware of the rules from the get-go.

    Soccer is not life. Not everyone in life starts comes from the same place. That otherwise intelligent people don’t grasp this mystifies me.

    This three-strikes nonsense started decades ago and seemingly will be with us forever, just like the Department of Homeland Security. Once something’s in place, it’s so difficult to get rid of it, no matter how unfair it is.

    How about I believe in the unlucky ones?
