but I'm a socialist. Anyway, while I understand david mizner's view (I think) it seems overly pessimistic.

There's a lot of fond revisionism towards Clinton, but let's just remember that Clinton signed a gay marriage ban and two of the most important pieces of deregulation, the Telecommunications and G.L.B.. David Mizner is unhappy with Obama's history on gay rights and Dodd-Frank and the Consumer Protection Bureau. That's fine.

But let's not forget that Obama is the best national leader on gay rights ever in the two-party history, and not incrementally better than Clinton, but vastly.  Let's not forget that he has been a part of the formulation and generation of important regulation and reform. Scale matters, sure. Conditions matter, sure. But kos is right to see reasons to celebrate. Even the conservadems now are better than the conservadems of the past, and they are also far fewer.

Governments care only as much as their citizens force them to care. Nothing changes unless we change -- George Monbiot.

and raised the CAFE standard and signed Lily Ledbetter and classified CO2 as a pollutant and and and.....
Obama has been the most progressive President since FDR and would have been MUCH more progressive had he had a Congress that was not out to thwart his every move.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!
