Last week the Senate tacked onto the budget resolution an Inhofe amendment to gut gun control. ALL Republicans voted for it; only 8 Democrats did, and they were from sparsely populated states.
Also I was looking at the vote fall 2002 to use military force against Iraq. The 23 Senate votes against included 21 Democrats, Chafee (R-RI), and Jeffords (I-VT). In the House my own Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Houston) voted against.
Lately on dailykos there has been a lot of blanket condemnation of Democrats as Republicans lite. That is not helpful. Kos wrote a book about becoming a strong force in the Democratic Party, which is the only viable possibility. Not the Republican or Green or Libertarian parties.
As for President Obama we all have had some disappointments, but he has also done good things. 'Don't ask don't tell' expired on my 70th birthday. Not on my conception day.
The last 3 Democratic Presidents have all followed a pattern of being somewhat centrist. I would expect that to continue unless we get a straight 20 years of Democratic Presidents.
Keep your eye on your own members of Congress. If my House member is Sheila Jackson Lee you know my 2 Senators are not Democrats.

    Censorship is rogue government.
