  •  Some of this reminds me of an Aunt (7+ / 0-)

who believed that, after birthing two children, she was still a virgin because she had only ever had sex with her husband.

When lots of people show up to vote, Democrats tend to win.

only useful to the church so that they can marry, have and raise kids and stay at home to support their husbands so that they can go to his spirit planet in upper heaven (only if he says she can) ... then they don't need to know about that vagina until it's time to procreate.

Just tell them that they are bleeding to death when they get their period in 6th, 7th or 8th grade so that they can shoot themselves already and get it over with ...

Or, you could teach them that if they want to work, as a female, they will need to make it into a binder full of women ... ??  No, really, they don't need sex ed, just put them in classes for cooking and laundry.

Sorry for the snark;  but, great teachers deserve support and encouragement.  These fanatical parents that believe ignorance is going to help a young lady navigate the challenges of life (especially in 10th grade when you are surrounded by hormone crazed young men), should be investigated, not the teacher.  Are they starting a class action lawsuit against the tampon and maxipad industries as well?  The reason we have schools is to educate and prepare our children for life, which for all young ladies and gentlemen includes basic biology and reproduction.  If a parent elects to pull their child out of that teaching, they are responsible to cover it at home well before the 10th grade.  If they don't agree with that, they can put their child in private school or ask the school if the subjects they are concerned about enter into their child's curriculum.

It sounds like this teacher did everything by the book, which in that class had an approved textbook that appropriately presumes that by 10th grade a young lady already had sex education from either the school (or for the fanatics, at home).  Hell, in 10th grade health, we were learning about fun things like LSD and dancing hot dogs.  And, yes, STD's which generally does involve more than one organ.  So, worse things can happen as far as exposure to the real world.

I am from Chicago;  so, I hope I don't offend people with my sarcasm.  But; I went to grade school in the Lone Star State of Texas.  Only one of our girlfriends was not allowed to go to the "birds and bees" talk.  Everyone felt sorry for her.  Her mother actually had a nervous breakdown shortly thereafter and eventually was institutionalized.

If the schoolboard allowed the curriculum/textbook, the issue should be taken up with them if the community as a whole is alarmed. Leave the teacher alone.

BTW  if the parents' goal was to keep the young ladies in the dark ... that cat's out of the bag now!
