  •  I really should utilize PG more. (7+ / 0-)

The thing is, when I'm reading a book, I'm usually reclining in bed, not sitting in front of a keyboard and monitor.  (No, I don't own a Kindle or anything like that.)

If I'm going to sit here and read online, I want to be able to talk back, LOL.

    •  I scored my e-versions of Sherlock Holmes there (6+ / 0-)

There are plenty of good books in the public domain.  God bless PG!

my only E-reader is this computer, and it's a desktop.

The real problem, though, is that to get the words into proper focus, I have to tilt my head back and read through my bifocals, and that quickly becomes uncomfortable for my neck muscles.  It's bad enough on this site: I can't imagine trying to read an entire book that way.

Definitely need a new prescription and new lenses.  I suspect I will be prescribed trifocals: gah!

I've had progressives for a few years.  They work pretty well, including on the computer.

Just push them up or down my nose depending on where I need close vision.

I don't need reading glasses.  But one eye is SO much worse than the other, I have a coke bottle lens.  Have to shell out for the superthin plastic lens or...well, coke bottle.

I've been wearing these things since third grade.  No tears...but just a realistic understanding of what it will cost, and where I will go.  Hint: I'm not going online for new lenses b/c I need to have an acquaintance with the optician...just in case.

Other people have family doctors?  I have an optician.

Yes, my vision is almost that bad.
