    ..late 70's/early 80's.

    I thought it was a thinly-disguised "call to arms" that was widely ignored. Some took it to heart and chained them selves to trees, then spiked them with ceramic spikes which weren't detectable with the metal detectors they used to combat the metal spikes the "true believers" were using.

    That turned me off to the radical environmental movement, because family men were losing lives, livelyhoods, body parts when metal-met-chainsaw. Even in Colombia, the indigenos stopped all tree-spiking. It was just bad Karma.

    Destroying equipment and generally fucking with peoples lives and jobs tends to turn people off to your ideas about "saving the planet."
