  •  prog radio will grow as the RW monopoly falls apar (5+ / 0-)

    t.

there are plenty of stations out there that will continue the talk radio format and will find talk radio supportive of the 99% and unions and teachers and global warming action more profitable than the RW programming.

many of the RW stations are only profitable because they are part of the monopoly media organ of the 1%- the voice of their think tanks-  and i'd say many are only profitable because they piggyback sport, including, shamefully, those many universities and schools.

and as limbaugh falls, thanks to someone finally getting up in his face in real time and pointing out the true market value of his hate and lies in america, the monopoly may start to fall apart and progressive talk will gain.

when that happens the political center will take a quick left turn.

This is a list of 76 universities for Rush Limbaugh that endorse global warming denial, racism, sexism, and GOP lies by broadcasting sports on over 170 Limbaugh radio stations.

      This remark:

begs the question of how much the most moneyed RW interests are currently SUBSIDIZING hate radio, for their own reasons.  Never mind that it's increasingly a money-losing format, Sheldon Adelstein and the other wealthy grifters, really want to keep it on the air to keep the masses brainwashed. So they dig into their own deep pockets as advertisers dwindle.

lot of how it works but it's not something the media, even progressive media, is going to pursue.

i'd bet there's a lot of payola and shifty money management and tax shenanegans going on.

it's hard to believe limbaugh would dedicate an entire week before the copenhagen climate summit to talk up the so called "climate gate" hacked emails - probably for the koch bros, without some bonus.

i always imagine him going on one of his golf trips and ending up with a scorecard with a swiss bank account number as a score.

whistleblower, a former insider, to emerge from this morass. They'll already know all about how to work the media when they defect. They'll have connections, and credibility, and use them. When they step up, I hope they command a high profile, and become a real media story, if not a folk icon.

Our hope lies in swaying middle America. When talk radio is thoroughly marginalized and discredited with run-of-the-mill soccer moms and baseball dads, we'll be home free. All the Koch $$$ in the world won't prop it up then.
