  •  They aren't hard to find if you are looking (16+ / 0-)

    for them.  From a distance it would be pretty easy to think one was a cormorant if you didn't notice the beak shape or the white underside.  They aren't nearly as striking as they are in the summer.

    They will sometimes give little fragments of a loon call in the winter but are mostly silent.  Some of them should be getting summer plumage in the next couple of weeks.

    If you want to look for them locally PH I recommend around the mouth of the St. Marks river (visible from the lighthouse area with binoculars).  Alligator Point is also supposed to be good but I haven't spent as much time there.  But really you could see them anywhere along the coast.
