I hope she felt that love, and hope she finds my Bogie over the bridge, and that I can always feel her presence.

    •  you will - when you least expect it... i know (0+ / 0-)

that firsthand from all my friends who are playing in the clouds.

this is a "message" from my nimbus the night i was overwhelmed by him being gone.  he had crossed over that rainbow one month earlier and i had stayed in this state of elation over his sharing his life with me.  then, when i stepped out that night into the cool darkness, i was overwhelmed by his absence.  i had always said he was my joy - and, as i looked up into the night sky, i saw this...

everyone knows you can't take pictures of clouds at night with a cell phone, right?

it is ours to celebrate with them.

I found this saying earlier this week while I was looking for solace on the internet. It seems to fit with your experience:

        "Perhaps they are not stars
        but openings in heaven
where the love of our children with fur
pours through and shines down upon us
to let us know they are at peace."

        •  ah, but perhaps they use the stars to talk to us.. (0+ / 0-)

after nimbus died, i kept sani (his "brother") in a barn south of me - when i "felt" i needed to move him immediately.  the feeling was so overwhelming that i took an advance on my paycheck, took the next day off and frantically called to find a trailer to move him despite having the weekend off in just another three days.

we got into our new barn late at night but i still turned him out to stretch his legs. i was with him in the turnoutand told him that i missed nimbus, too, but he was  wi....

as i voiced "with us" - the most briliant shooting star flew right over us in the paddock.... and i knew that nimbs really was "with us".

after toady died (my little black dog that climbed trees), i went to the barn again with tee (my samoyed) to be with sani - and, again, racing across the sky was a bright shooting star with a much smaller one chasing on his heels.... nimbus and toady were flying through the night sky again.

and, no, shooting stars aren't a common occurence at my barn - only when my kids are saying "hi, we're here and playing!"

two days after my friend's precious rocky died (her beautiful paint horse), my beloved tee also crossed over that rainbow, too.  rocky's sudden illness was the reason tee got to go to the barn to see his sani and all his friends - we had to take ceci the trailer key to take rocky into the vet hospital.

his "gift" to us when he left were these words as he reminded me that they aren't ever far away...

do not be sad or weep for me
          when my day is done
but find the warmth and glory
          we shared beneath the sun

cry not when i am gone from here
          remember all our play
and how our laughter filled the air
long past when i could stay

oh, weep not when you see me gone
          just know within your heart
that i am with you always here
          and we will never part.

and when the shadows fall all round
          the darkness round you see
look up and find the brightest star
and know that it is me
