  •  Oh the poor children! (10+ / 0-)

Gawd I hate that argument! We are paying the lowest taxes this country has seen since I was born in the late 1940s. If we don't have to pay off the debts, why would the children have to? My TV seems to get spit on it when I see McCain and his "generational theft" arguments.

We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.

    •  The RATES are lower because (0+ / 0-)

lots of women have been talked into or economically forced into the workforce.

Republicans have realized that it was possible to lower the RATES when a workforce increases from say 45 million males and 15 million females (~1960's) to say 70 million males and 60 million females.

One woman in the house to the east of mine works three jobs. The woman to the house to the southwest of mine works two jobs.

In 1967 my upstate New York school district spent about $1,100/year/child. Adjusted for inflation that would be about $9,000/year.

It now spends about $17,000/year/child, or double the 1967 amount in real terms.

      How it that possible?

House sizes have increased and women have poured into the workforce filling New York State coffers with income tax revenue. Also the greatly enlarged financial industry in the New York City area pours income tax money into NY State government coffers.
