He isn't filibusterer drones. He isn't running on the second amendment. He is running for president. "Stand with Rand' isn't a principled stand, it is a slogan.

I am still seeing the Values Republicans battling with the Libertarians on the pages of RedState. Mr. Erickson has thrown down big time with the Values. Which might seem more inline with the Establishment, but then Rove says

When asked, “Can you imagine the next presidential campaign, a Republican candidate saying flat out I am for gay marriage?” Rove responded “I could.”
    So.....     .......

You have to primary the Establishment Republicans - because they have betrayed conservatism. But do you primary them with a libertarian or Value candidate?

Mr. Erickson has thrown down with the Theo-Cons, (no doubt for political expedience, and he will change his views latter), and has openly confronted the Libertarians.

Rand thinks he is the voice of the new Republican party, and will get the nomination. But this is still just the voice of the college Libertarians. Rand is a voice in the wilderness. He thinks he is the voice of 'Stand up for Rand', but it echos like a duck.

The battle is between the Rovians and the Value Voters.

I do not know. I am not a conservative. But there seems to be a frustration with the Republican as to whom to align with. The Libertarians, Values votes, or Establishment?

It is possible to read the history of this country as one long struggle to extend the liberties established in our Constitution to everyone in America. - Molly Ivins
