  •  From day one, I never trusted him. (8+ / 0-)

All I could see when I watched him was a modern version of Elmer Gantry.  Got HR'd for that one too.

Thom Hartmann and Mike Papantonio discussed the so called left on Hartmann's radio show on Thursday.   They both said there was no progressive movement.   Just a bunch of uncooperative people and their silo politics.   If there single issue was winning, screw everybody else.    Thom said it was hard wired in liberals, and Mike said they just sucked.   I am paraphrasing, of course; but the gist is right.  Liberals are losers unlike the right.

On cue, the left and the right get sent outside to squabble over anything that takes the discussion off money and power.

until the left can admit they failed and why, there is no hope.    Income inequality and the power it buys will only continue to get worse until everything explodes.   Even then, neither of them feel the least bit confident that progressives will have or be seen as a solution.

but too many people got caught up in the cult of personality.

The progressive movement is dead though, I agree, and have been saying that for a long time.  We had a good thing going in 2006.  The Obama movement killed that.

But movements on the left and across the spectrum on specific issues are not dead.  Just not fully organized at the moment.  It would not take all that much to get going again, but not under the phony progressive label. That label is donefer, unless somebody can modify it to mean something more like the real progressive movement from the FDR days and kick out the neoliberals who are more destructive than Republicans, in office and out of office.  Their job is done now though.  They got Obama back in office for a second term and now he can do some serious damage.  A lot of people helped, especially in 2012.  There are many prominent bloggers who I will never trust again.
